Unfortunately, we won't receive any stock on February 28th. However, we anticipate receiving some between March 13th through March 24th. 

Pre-orders will start tomorrow February 28th, at 6 AM PST. The available models will be the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D and the Ryzen 9 7900X3D.

All existing Noctua coolers and mounting kits that support AM4 (purchased after 12/2018) are compatible with the AM5 sockets except for the following coolers: NH-L9a-AM4 and NM-AM4-L9aL9i.

NZXT

Existing AM4 NZXT coolers (with the exception of M22, Kraken 120S, and H1 coolers) will not be compatible with the new AM5 socket, and a new AM5 bracket will need to be utilized. While an AM4 bracket will fit, it is recommended to use an AM5 bracket to prevent possible damage to your components.

NZXT plans to take requests for the brackets in early to mid-September and will make a formal announcement when they will be offering them to customers.

Fractal Design

All of Fractal Design's coolers which are compatible with AM4 socket CPUs will support the new AM5 socket without any need for a conversion kit.

All Cooler Master’s Liquid Coolers will support AM5 out of the box. For Air Coolers, an AM5 Upgrade Kit will be needed.

+ What is the main difference AM4 vs AM5 socket?

The main difference between the two generations of processors is socket type. The new Ryzen 7000 CPUs are on AM5 socket which means pins are on the motherboards.

+ What are the new CPUs?

+ Which CPU cooler do you recommend for various models?

For Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7, a tower cooler should be sufficient. While for Ryzen 9, we recommend a 360mm AIO liquid cooler. However, a 280mm should also be sufficient if there are space constraints.

+ Will there be DDR4 versions of AM5 motherboards?

No, AMD Ryzen 7000 motherboards will only have DDR5 versions.
